I did some research on black soldier fly larve, (live or dried) and the PMCA gives it a thumbs up for an alternate form of supplement food for martins. You may want to purchase a few pounds online and experiment to see how your martins take to this new treat. The black soldier fly larva is almost identical to the nutritional value of mealworm with the added bonus of calcium which can be helpful during the egg laying part of the season. I do believe the live form would be better than the dried form of the larva.
