I have been a landlord for over 10 years. Had housing with the starling resistant
entrances, but found that S&K gourds were my calling card to getting a good
sized colony. I currently have 36 nesting pairs. Have experience with mite
infestation, cleaning out nests, moving nestlings to other nests due to a large
sized clutch, and also saving several nestlings who have been in a dehydrated
and malnourished state by taking from nest during day and feeding them,
replacing in the evening and then finally finding a suitable nest to put back.
Those have been all successful. And also house sparrow population reduction
practices lol.

After moving to a suitable location for a Martin colony in 2014, I put up a 6
cavity artificial gourd assembly and was able to attract Martins in my second
year and have had active nesting the last 3 years. I think I have learned some
valuable information (some by trial and error) and would be glad to help pass
this on to those wishing to help conserve this wonderful bird. The Mississippi
River flyway allows for relatively successful colony attraction in the right
setting.
