Water / pedialyte cricket soaking for baby supplement feeding during heat waves

Hey everyone,
It can be beneficial to baby martins as well as adult martins to soak your crickets in a mixture of water and pedialyte before placing the crickets on a feeding tray or on exterior martin house porches during heat waves. The martin parents will readily feed these soaked crickets to their babies during hot weather. Normally, the foraged bugs the parents get for their babies have some insect body juices that hydrate the babies. But, either water soaked or water soaked/pedialyte crickets will dramatically assist babies and adults in keeping them well hydrated. By adding these crickets to a feeding tray, it cuts down on the energy parents use during foraging. This foraging energy also raises the risk of heat for the adults. I encourage you f=to soak your crickets. Pedialyte is not a requirement, only an added boost for the martins.
